⃞ Students will have an agenda and communication pouch that will be used to communicate between home and school. Please check and return the agenda daily. You can write notes to the teacher in the agenda. The communication pouch will be sent home with letters and student work on a regular basis.

My name is Lana Asgarali I have been teaching at Fossil Hill P.S. for 13 years. I am very proud to be a part of the Fossil Hill family. My qualifications are in Primary and Junior Grades, with a specialized background in Child Development. I look forward to meeting you and working with you and your child this upcoming school year!
Communication Pouch
Your child will receive their black communication pouch that will be used to transport any notes, homework, money that need to travel back and forth to school. The pockets will be checked by me on a daily basis. We ask that you look through the pockets for any notes or class work that your child brings home. These communication pockets should come to school daily and will go home everyday. Please take care of them as they can be reused in the years to come.
If our child is new to Fossil Hill, or does not have one, the cost for the communication pocket is $5. 00. Please send this money with your child to school.
Agendas
Your child will be writing daily in his/her agenda to share important information about homework and school activities. The cost of an agenda is $5.00. Please send any money in a clearly labelled envelope or plastic baggy. This will ensure that it arrives to school safely. Please read and sign your child’s agenda each day. Thank you in advance for supporting our school-home communication.
Appreciations
Thank you to our Fossil Hill caretakers who worked so hard over the summer to clean our school, perform maintenance and store the extra furniture and supplies.
Thank you to our office staff (Ms. Luchetta and Ms. Flynn) for organizing student registrations over the summer and providing us with all the necessary back to school documents.

Homework
Reading books and reading logs will start to be sent home in the next couple of weeks. Students are encouraged to read every night for at least 20 minutes. Some excellent websites and resources will be posted on our website for Listening to Reading and Online E-Books. Keep posted for more updates in the first weeks of school!

Classroom Supplies
Other than indoor shoes, a water bottle, agenda and communication pouch, students do not need to have classroom supplies purchased for back to school. Pencils, colouring tools, scissors, glue, and notebooks are all provided by the school.

Library
Students will go to the library every week. Your child will be bringing home library books that will be at their reading level and some that are above. Library books often can have rich stories that students are able to discuss and reflect upon. Library books can even be read more than once. Children often enjoy hearing a story again, and even helping to tell the story the second time around.

Gym
Students will have gym class twice a week, Day 2 and Day 5. They need to have comfortable clothing and running shoes. The focus for gym this month will be on establishing rules, routines, safety procedures and team building games and activities.
Snack & Lunch
Fossil Hill P.S. is a NUT FREE SCHOOL. We have students at our school who are severely allergic to peanuts. Do not send your child with any peanuts or nut products.
If your child has another type of allergy, that the school is not aware of, please let me know as soon as possible.
